HAMPSHIRE RAILWAY WEDDING

September 15, 2017

A beautiful weekend in June saw the lovely railway wedding celebrations of Louise and Glyn at the just beautiful Horsebridge Railway Station in Hampshire.

Louise first got in touch in the spring of last year.  I was recommended to her by one of her Bridesmaids whose wedding I had assisted with the year before.

Louise and Glyn’s wedding really appealed to me, exquisite, classically elegant, exclusive and the most picturesque setting you could wish for – there are not many places where you can get married on a railway platform.  Louise and Glyn opted for some additional wedding assistance which included help the day before the wedding and full wedding day management on the day itself.   I uniquely tailored my wedding weekend option to fit in with their exact requirements.  There was no venue coordinator on site at their venue so it was really important to them for somebody to have the master plan for the day as well as visiting Louise on the morning of the wedding and ensuring all of the elements came together as well as knowing I was on the end of a phone or email during the final few weeks to the wedding.  Just being there to get a second opinion or talk through a worry really does help.

How did you and Glyn meet?
We met at a work event, we worked for different companies and I was giving training to groups of his companies’ employees.  I said ‘nice voice’, he said ‘nice hair’ and the rest is history.

Tell me about the proposal?
It was the most romantic weekend of my life!  All I knew was that we were going away for the weekend, but didn’t know where.  We got to London where I got a free cup of coffee from a High Street chain, so I knew I was in for a good weekend!  The actual proposal was at the Planetarium at Greenwich Observatory…Glyn had chosen here because of the view of London.  We watched a show and came out at sunset.  I look round and Glyn was on his knee.  I really wasn’t expecting it!  We celebrated with dinner at Claridges.  The price de resistance was a surprise journey on the British Pullman.  It was absolutely fantastic and I felt like a film star!  Glyn put so much thought into the weekend.

Describe your style?
Very relaxed.  I didn’t want a wedding that became bigger than the marriage.  That was what was important to both of us, and we got that.  We both wanted a day which was full of love, laughter, friends and family.

I am very fortunate that my in-laws live within 45 minutes of Horsebridge which meant I could visit quite easily prior to the big day.  We actually had our day in detail meeting at the venue in the April on the most gorgeous day and Louise and Glyn’s ideas and vision were just lovely and it was great to talk everything through and discuss how the day would flow as well as answering those little queries about some of the finer detail.

Why did you choose Amy as your wedding planner?
Amy had planned my friend’s wedding so we saw first-hand what a calming influence she was on the day.  As Horsebridge was only the venue which meant we had to organise everything else i.e. plates, glasses, drinks, food etc, Amy’s knowledge and experience was invaluable to us.

The day before wedding involved setting up as much as we possibly could as well as meeting with their amazing and enthusiastic photographer, Kevin Hill of WildCamera Photography.

The wedding day itself involved me firstly going to check Louise and her bridesmaids were OK at The Peat Spade, a 10 / 15 minute drive down the road and then heading to Horsebridge to coordinate their suppliers and setup for their civil ceremony on the platform.  I also double checked all of their tables and liaised with their florist about what needed to be moved where after the ceremony.

What did you most enjoy about working with Amy?
Amy was so calm and had everything under control!  Both with my friend’s wedding and my own, Amy’s level of detail was second to none, and nothing was missed.  She was always on the end of a phone and responded almost immediately to emails, even when she was moving house!  When I was having wobbles about one thing or another, Amy talked me down.  Even though she may be planning many weddings at the same time, she never makes you feel as if you are one of many.

An absolutely beautiful wedding day, with lots of smiles and laughter, such a gorgeous ceremony, followed by drinks and canapes in the garden.  Such a fun and relaxed wedding with florals so bright, just gorgeous.  A great couple and wedding at such a unique and different location.

What memories will you always cherish about your wedding planning?
Umm, if I’m honest, I’m not a planner, so not much really.  I just know the day was absolutely perfect for us, the venue was quirky and beautiful, the British weather held out and that feeling of warmth and love that we both wanted, we really did manage to achieve.

What part of your wedding day did you most enjoy?
Seeing Glyn on the platform knowing we were about to be married.  I was a bit overwhelmed and forgot his name during the vows but it was such a lovely ceremony, neither of us could stop smiling!

What advice would you give to a bride whilst planning her wedding?
Think about what is important to you and your fiancée and don’t forget that.  It is easy to be overwhelmed by the websites, blogs and magazines that are out there but ultimately, what is important to you is that you and your partner get married. I know this may sound like a cliché but on the day all the little things get forgotten about, don’t forget to take a moment or two with your other half to take in the day because it absolutely flies by.

After dark I put out tea lights and candles and we also had fun with sparklers and getting some great shots.  It really was a fantastic day and evening with a great bunch of people.

Here are a selection of some of the beautiful photos by Kevin at WildCamera Photography.  Such a lovely style which matched Louise and Glyn and their wedding to perfection.
