RELAXED LINCOLN COUNTRY WEDDING

August 22, 2016

A sunny Thursday in July saw the beautiful wedding celebrations of Madison and Philip at the stunning Washingborough Hall Hotel.

Madison first contacted me in January 2014 to enquire about wedding assistance and a wedding venue search.  Living in Vancouver, Canada they needed that wedding professional to get things moving ready for their visit in the May of that year.  Phil originally from Lincoln and Madison wanting the classic country style elegant wedding.  A full venue search began, initially their guest numbers were quite high which limited the search a little in the Lincolnshire area.  After a few skype calls and lots of emails, we narrowed down the venue search to visit to just 4 venues.  We met for the first time on ‘venue tour’ day.  Such a fun day and we got on so well, thinking exactly the same things.  We met the following day to review the venues and they made their wedding venue choice and they also decided they wanted wedding assistance during their whole wedding planning journey.  A bespoke ‘across the miles’ package was put together for them and the full planning started for their beautiful wedding.  Being overseas really took the pressure of them with the planning side.

Why did you choose Amy as your wedding planner?
We initially contacted Amy (and several other wedding planners) via email. After a few emails and a skype meeting, Amy quickly rose to the top of the list with her calming demeanour and obvious professionalism. We initially planned to only use Amy’s service to pin down our venue and part ways. With only a few interactions, we knew immediately our day needed Amy to realise its true potential.

Madison and Phil’s vision was pure elegance , yet relaxing and fun.   Their wedding planning journey was quite a long one, they only visited twice before their wedding, so lots had to be fitted in on these visits, including meeting suppliers and pulling everything together.  On their second and final visit before the wedding, unfortunately their chosen wedding venue started to disappoint, so with less than 7 months to go until the wedding, a new venue had to be found, which was the stunning Washingborough Hall Hotel, it matched perfectly for their vision, their guest numbers were lower than originally planned and the Winston orangery was only in the planning stages when they first contacted me back in 2014.    Madison’s colour palette was even the same as Washingborough Hall’s and so it was definitely meant to be.  Also the fact that I am the ‘Director of Romance’ there made it the perfect final piece of the jigsaw.

Beautiful simple florals were created by Jenny from the Flower Barn, as soon as Madison and Phil met with Jenny she was the perfect fit, as was Jenny from Foxglove Wedding Photography.  Hair, makeup, cake, props soon followed and Madison and Phil’s dreamteam was in place.  It was great fun purchasing the wine bottles and parchment paper for their wedding guest book, a bottle to be opened for certain milestones in their relationship.

What did you enjoy most about working with Amy?
Fun, relaxed, and elegant. These were the themes that exemplified our dream wedding and carried through to our experience with Amy herself. She manages a calm, laid-back presence while remaining astute, organized and attentive. Her dedication to our themes (and budget) were well appreciated and we know we couldn’t have done it without her.

What memories will you always cherish about your wedding planning?
We will always cherish our meetings, internet-based and otherwise, with Amy. Sitting down with a glass of fizz and dreaming about the day it would all finally happen. Most couples feel a sadness after their wedding day has come and gone. Instead we are looking forward to making any excuse to bring Amy back into our lives to plan more romantic events!

Madison and Phil flew into the UK the Sunday before they got married without actually having seen the venue in real life!  As soon as they arrived on the Monday for a pre-wedding meeting I could tell from their expressions that it was perfect for them and the 2 ½ years of planning had been worth it.  With only a few days to go, lots of final details had to take place, as well as confirming minibuses, sorting suits and their rehearsal dinner at Ole Ole Tapas in Lincoln.

Their wedding day was just stunning, the perfect day in every way.   The venue looked beautiful with everything setup as they wanted, enjoyed from beginning to end by the whole family.  Madison had a lovely morning being pampered, we got her into her dress in plenty of time (so many buttons her dress, thank goodness for the old fashioned crochet hook)!  Phil arrived in a stunning Rolls Royce, buttonholes were allocated.

What part of your wedding day did you most enjoy?
Our wedding day has been and will remain for some time, our favourite day. It was so much fun to be together with our family and friends in such a beautiful setting. We didn’t want for anything and (almost creepily) Amy could anticipate our every need. Our favourite part of our favourite day was when he had a moment to be stolen away by the photographers. We were able to stand back and watch our guests have an incredible time at what will now be one of the most special places in our life. The hall and the company was all we could ever ask for. The food was a pretty nice bonus.

After their beautiful and emotional ceremony, they enjoyed prosecco in the gardens, a game of croquet and lots of photos.  Their wedding breakfast was tailored to them as they wanted gourmet burgers for main course, served with the most scrumptious coleslaws and triple cooked chips.  Speeches followed, the Canadians certainly know how to do speeches!

After dinner, more photos were taken and the day naturally flowed into their evening reception.  Their beautiful cakes (lemon drizzle – covered with ivory Swiss meringue buttercream and decorated with berries and gold leaf accents and a kitchen cake of strawberry shortcake) were served with fresh berries.  A great evening and celebration of the next chapter of their relationship.   I dropped by the venue the following morning to ensure they had everything, a lovely couple who will stay firm friends, such a pleasure to work with I already miss them.

What advice would you give to a bride whilst planning her wedding?
During the planning stages, I would encourage a new bride and groom to take the time to decide what is important, share it with Amy and stick to it. Things will surprise you. Before making any changes, remember why you made the decisions you made and re-evaluate. Amy will back you up with whatever you choose. Trust your instincts and trust your Amy.

Five words to describe Amy?
Professional | Attentive | Fun | Loveable | Calming

Amy!  These words fail to tell you how we truly feel about our experience with you. If there is anything else we can do to publicly profess our love for you and the work you’ve done, please let us know. We miss you but know this isn’t the end of our event-planning relationship or friendship. Thank you! Love Phil and Madison Jackson
