FAMILY FRICTION – TOP TABLE ETIQUETTE FOR EXTENDED FAMILIES
Dear all
In the modern world that we now live in there is normally extended families which can cause family friction. So how do you sort this out on your top table? To be honest the top table is starting to fade out and many brides and grooms are mingling on other tables with their guests, either opting for a round or trestle table.
The round table option amongst family and friends is a good way of eliminating any issues and ensuring the couple spend time with all of their guests.
If you effectively have two sets of parents each I think it is nice to include them all at your wedding but it is probably best to ensure they sit together as couples rather than parents.
Some couples also opt for a table for just the two of them which can be quite sweet but I still prefer the mingling on the round / trestle table option. It is also quite nice to have one or two members of your main bridal party on each table so that your guests feel really involved with the wedding and the speeches will be coming from lots of different table which can be a nice touch.
