FINDING THE PERFECT VENUE FOR YOUR SPECIAL DAY

Dear all

Finding that perfect setting for your wedding is probably one of the hardest and most important.  Not only does it have to feel and match your visions in your head, it also has to accommodate the right amount of guests for you, be available on your chosen date and basically tick all of the boxes and be within your budget!   I can remember looking for our wedding venue and spending many a weekend trailing up and down the country to try and find the one and being thoroughly disappointed with the majority, whether it be the décor, location, customer service or price.

Like finding your perfect dress is the same with your perfect wedding venue.  It is out there and I’m afraid it is just a case of finding it.

Once you have found the one, obviously the first question to ask is whether it is available on your chosen wedding date?  If it is, obviously you can go to the next stage and talk about whether you can get ready there, how many people it can accommodate, room options (marquees), car parking, disabled access, catering and drink options and so on.

A big question is if there are other weddings being held on the same day as yours.  For some brides this isn’t a problem, but for others it is as they want exclusive use of the venue, which unfortunately can come at a price.  However, in my opinion, exclusive use venues are the best and it is so lovely to be able to take over the whole venue and not have random people checking into the hotel whilst you are having your drinks reception.  Remember that a wedding day is about you as a couple and sharing it with your friends and family.

Also remember that most venues have separate prices for Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Monday to Thursdays.  Mid week weddings are becoming more popular because couples are finding that if they choose to get married on a Monday or Thursday they can get their venue a little cheaper.  Also some suppliers won’t charge as much for these days of the week, so it is something certainly worth looking into.  Certain months can also be a little cheaper, although I think in the long term it is looking like weddings are becoming popular in every month of the year.

If you are really struggling to find that perfect venue or just don’t have the time to spend every weekend over a two month period going up and down the country to find it remember that we offer a venue search option and do all of the hard work for you.  Click here for more information.

For those of you that have already found your perfect venue you can sit back and start looking at everything else that needs organising.  Once you have the venue booked everything else will start to slot into place and then the real excitement begins.  Happy planning.
