NATURAL AND RELAXED BOHO WEDDING

March 14, 2022

Laura and Hector’s gorgeous relaxed boho style September 2021 wedding took place at St Peter in Eastgate, Bailgate, Lincoln, followed by their natural and relaxed stretch tent reception at Oaktree Farm Weddings. Both just perfect for them both, with Oaktree being the most gorgeous of settings.

Laura and Hector initially contacted me back in July 2020, as they wanted assistance finding their ideal wedding venue. They ended up choosing Oaktree Farm Weddings as it fitted the style of wedding they both wanted, with the element of bringing the outside in and having a real boho feel. Their wedding venue search led to me providing full wedding planning for them both, including sourcing all of their suppliers, as well as assistance the week of the wedding, day before and full wedding day management.

With Laura being a graphic designer she had the most impeccable eye for colour and detail. Such a lovely couple to work with and a wedding day that was filled with love and laughter, with a special appearance by their gorgeous pug, Riley.

I asked Laura a few questions about her wedding planning journey, so over to Laura.

How did you both meet?

We met at our local pub. I was out celebrating my birthday.

Tell me about the proposal?

It was during lockdown so very low key.  We were having a date night and Hector decided we should get tapas takeout, which was what we had for our first date.  After our meal, I went to get dessert and when I got back I found him on one knee with our pug Riley, who was dressed up in a bow tie.

How would you describe your style?

I’d say we have a fairly relaxed style wise.  I am into Boho and natural aesthetics and texture.

What was important to you both when initially starting your wedding planning journey?

We both wanted our day to be very relaxed.  An occasion that reflected both my UK side with Hector’s USA side.  It was important for us to have a faith focused ceremony, but we also didn’t want it to be overly traditional and formal and we wanted the day to be one big party.

Why did you feel the need to have a wedding planner?

We both work full time with very full on jobs and I also suffer from anxiety, so we decided to we wanted to get a wedding planner to help minimise stress and keep planning on track. We also thought it would be a good way to get advice or recommendations as there is a whole world of options when it comes to weddings, we didn’t really know where to start.

What made you choose Amy?

Firstly, Amy is local to us so we had confidence she would know the area and be able to work easily with suppliers and we wanted to support local where we could.  Her website also had lots of examples of weddings that had a similar style and vibe to what we were thinking of for our wedding so we knew she would get what we were looking for.

What part of your wedding planning did you enjoy the most?

I particularly liked putting together all the details, how the colour scheme would look and how to decorate the venue.  For me it was the personal details that brought it all together. It was a lot of work but when it was all put together it brought the space to life.

What part of your day did you enjoy the most?

All of it!!  There wasn’t a single second that wasn’t incredible.  We had absolute confidence in Amy, she knew our day inside out which left us able to completely forget about the organising and allowed us to just enjoy ourselves.  As far as we know everything went perfectly.

What advice would you give to a bride (or groom) whilst planning their wedding?

Enjoy the early stages but don’t get overwhelmed by it.  Also, don’t get too sucked in to the world of social media/Pinterest.  It is a great tool for inspiration but it can also be a bit unrealistic.  During planning, things will go wrong but it will all come together.  And lastly, plan as much as you want but when the wedding day comes remember you’ve done all that you can and from that point on you just have to go with the flow and enjoy yourselves.

Would you do anything differently?

Possibly been a bit more open minded when it came to sourcing my bridesmaid dresses as we were planning right in the middle of lockdown, so didn’t have much access to trying on dresses.  But even then, the dresses were beautiful so maybe not.

Five words to describe Amy

Calm | Thoughtful | Focused | Super Star

What a wedding this was, the best day with the best group of people.  The colour palette that Laura opted for was just stunning and the best choice for the time of year, location and overall boho vibe.

Huge thanks to all of Laura and Hector’s incredible suppliers and a special thank you to the lovely Natalie and Dan at Oaktree.  Here are a selection of some of Laura and Hector’s beautiful photos by James Green Studio.
